Genesis 26:18
Now Isaac again dug [and reopened] the wells of water which had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, because the Philistines had filled them up [with dirt] after the death of Abraham; and he gave the wells the same names that his father had given them.
A well is dug in search for water.Water signifies life in every almost everything.
God called Abraham and gave him a promise not just for him but for generations after him. This includes those who today believe in Jesus and partake of the rich blessing that was on Abraham.
Like Isaac, we may face a famine in our lives.Yet when we look back, there are wells dug by our fathers who obeyed God like Abraham. The wells they discovered were to be handed down to us as mantles- these could be mantles of wealth, mantles of priesthood and as servants of God,mantles of success in business and careers, mantles of leadership etc.
Over time the enemy might have covered these wells with dirt.Just like the Philistines had covered those dug by Isaac’s father. They are however still there and God is directing us to look back in order to identify them.
Once we do,it’s then for us to “do the work of re-digging them” not just for us but for generations to come.
In your looking back this moment, is there a family well you should purpose to re-dig ?
